A pleasant surprise – the ‘Koolaid man EP’ review

Koolaid man EP

When I stumbled upon the freshest EP released by Rybo, I was expecting something more akin to the previous release we detailed. A classic collection of Brocci’s music proved to be quite the daunting task to properly review, although the task was eventually completed. The reason I mention it being difficult was the mix in production styles and mixers from the last project. This is absent from this latest release.

Almost six months later, we find ourselves in front of the newest and latest Rybo production, the  “koolaid man EP“. While this project seemed to come out of nowhere, sources have indicated that a project had been on the cusp of release from the Schenectady rapper.  Speaking to some of the past Rybo collaborations, I was surprised to note that there were 0 (Zero) songs that had production by Ghosty- or even mixing by Ghosty.

This project is not by any stretch linear, however, it follows a more rigid guide than the last Rybo release. The first song “babyflip” is over 2 minutes long and seems to set the solid tempo in which you would need to call it an EP. The song is complete and offers a few tonality differences by Rybo. After this song, however- the EP seems to take a more loose fun having approach, which I believe was the intention in naming it the “Koolaid man EP”.

Some fans of Rybo were caught off guard by the sudden drop, which again seemed to come out of nowhere. Eager listeners stopped their momentum to load up Rybo’s page and see the newest publication.   “I like the EP but It’s been so long since his last release. I really hope there’s more coming soon and this isn’t it. It’s a fun EP but I hope his next release explores his full range of sound” commented Albany resident Jose Pinelas.

Something notable about this release was the lack of features it presented. Many who pulled up the new project were anticipating features from Kosco, Fop, Ghosty, or even new connection Generikk. This project, however, was entirely Rybo singles, which while are the most recent norm considering his single releases, still caught fans off guard.

Upon listening to “flippo”, I realized this song is everything the EP encompasses. A one minute Detroit style song, produced by AJK in which Rybo talks about how many flows he can accomplish or a perennial mention of the Brocci EP. This, I believe perfectly captures the theme of this EP. It’s short, sweet, and ONLY Rybo.

While some fans might be anticipating a future release from Rybo, I am perfectly content with this release. It accomplishes what it was released to do, not give a complex message or tell a story, but rather a fun having turn-up project. While it may not have any features, it offers some of the best Rybo has to offer, including a slower freeway vibe song ( Moon ).

I enjoyed this project, and I think you will like it too. Even if it’s not the full range/ scope of Rybos music and empty in features, this is a memorable work of art that will only grow on listeners overtime, further cementing the legacy of this project.

An exclusive look : The Brocci EP (8.6)

Featuring many of his acolytes, The Brocci EP  sets its self apart from other cliche debut projects with a unique showcase of what makes this lower sound quality, but a mesmerizing project- WORTH IT. This debut by Rybo aka.DoRmir

When Ryan Brocci, 18, released his first EP drop on Soundcloud, it was met with some skepticism, however as the hours went by & the play increased, so did the viability of this being a classic and solid first release for the Albany based rapper.

This album features an eclectic mix of artists such Sound-step, AFop, Kosco produced on a mix of synth-pop, playboi carti-esque beats. A nice sprinkling of producer talent was also on display on this new project, which Brocci & co seem to flow over seamlessly including the likes of AyowiththeMayo, Gerraux, Payday & Yes- you guessed it- GHOSTY (who may I add also produced on one of my favorite tracks on the EP “cmere”  ft. silent-step.)

This project is grounded yet solid and has all of the elements which we have come to know Mr.Brocci’s music for. including plenty of Pierre’Bourne esque’ beats and lighter tones leading to a fun, playful yet serious music vibe that seems to amplify and deliver a riveting message of “We’re here, you other rappers in the 518 suck, and now you’re going to listen to us“.

The Brocci EP – leaves us with a fun, exciting album that you can listen to from working out, to smoking in your car with friends. The production is very good and doesn’t fail to fully capture the elements that make a prime BROCCI track (eg.Fuckitup ft.Kosco,AFop). Rappers like Kosco help bring out the rougher edges of Brocci’s overall message to be beautifully amplified and displayed on the surface level (hitting licks, robbing plugs & banging hoe’s). The production is tremendous and fun to listen to, as proven by “Cmere ft. Silent-Step &Prod. by GHOSTY“.  The closer potentially peaks at a future inclination of what BROCCI would be going for in future musical exploits.

This is a very fun listen. If you want to get the purest and most refined taste of what music is coming out of the Metropolitan Albany’s suburbs- this is it. The project leaves us with a sense of what BROCCI’s music is about, fun, light, great to listen to & turnup with- yet with lyrics that actually have meaning.

We like this EP a lot here at Polemicist Post – giving The Brocci EP a rare & high 8.6/10 this is a must-listen.

Rap Music in a new country?

Wed all know the culture has changed. This is to say in terms of views on feminism, abortion, guns and many other things like immigration. One thing however that is mutually liked by both sides particularly in a young generation, is rap music.

Music that clearly sets apart from a classic narrative pushed on us by media and others alike, a sound that is machista, raw and vulgar however exactly what the culture likes.

I personally love rap, and I love this country, they obviously can co-exist and cargo short conservative neo-cons can shut up.

The Mid-Term’s & Rise of Incivility

As the 2018 mid-term’s fast approach, voters brace for the oncoming political storm. I predicted a few months back that there would indeed be a rise in incivility, but primarily from the left. Thus far we have seen exactly that, with Antifa attacks and deep state obstruction.  Polls currently show Democrat’s leading by +8, but we’ve seen this story before, primarily in the 2016 election.

Right now the energy is trending red, meaning voters are more energized after the Kavanaugh hearings in which the nation drew polarized on the issue of believing Christie Blasey Ford’s story, or Brett Kavanaugh’s. This has led to anger on the right at the treatment of Brett Kavanaugh, and as Trump’s notion of the erosion of due process. This cycle is coming down to the wire, and currently I predict Republican’s pick up a few seats in the senate and hold the house.

It’s politics season, and in this era who knows what’s going to happen. The left will continue to get violent if things do not go their way, leading to in my opinion the most historic mid-terms in US History.

An Introduction to the Polemic Post

When I first started this project, it was decided to be a center for my idea’s, thought’s and predictions for whats up-coming and going on. We are living in unprecedented times, things move in a news cycle faster than lighting. A story that would have been the hottest issue for 2 months in 2011, is now forgotten in mere hours. This is the world we live in now, and I feel it’s my responsibility to document what is going on and get the tough scoops.

My name is Alex, and for obvious reasons I’ll remain anonymous. This is not in a response to fear, but a protective strategy to then catapult information.

I look forward to growing this site and sharing my thoughts with you all.

Bless,
